The Earth Power solution for oil shale and brown coal extraction is significantly more efficient than traditional methods, and has been planned with environmental considerations at the outset. Not only does the Earth Power process recover all of the carbon content within the oil shale and brown coal, the remaining detritus is manufactured into high density construction materials, ensuring no waste is left behind.
In addition, oil shale and brown coal often contains significant amounts of moisture, which will be captured, cleansed and reused for irrigation. The areas where mining has taken place will also be considerately managed and recovered for community benefit after cleaning the area from oil shale and brown coal.
Gas to Liquid Technologies
Earth Power and our scientific partners have developed a Gas to Liquid process that is based on 80 year old technology, but uses advanced modern engineering methods to improve the systems performance. The process is considered to be the most efficient , and most economically viable Gas to Liquid technology available.
With partners from Germany, South Africa & the USA, the system has been designed to exceed the highest environmental targets and produce clean transport fuels from mined gas deposits.
The produced fuels are significantly cleaner than traditional fossil fuels and enable new markets for gas exploration.

Our Research Group has developed a CO2 Reprocessing System to recover all CO2 emissions from power & petrochemical facilities. The approach to this solution is to process the CO2 at the molecular level and economically convert it into valuable products suitable for use in the transportation and chemical industries.
Given the compelling issues surrounding energy security and the political and environmental pressure to implement Carbon sequestration technologies to avoid penalties, our development became defined by this reality.
With the experience of our management team and technology partners in the chemical reprocessing and high temperature physics disciplines, we focused our attention on preventing the release of CO2 and generating value from this plentiful resource.
Zero Emissions

The individual components of the process are all well tested technologies that have been operating in the chemical industry for many years;
A power facility can achieve Carbon neutral status;

The global focus on greenhouse gas reduction has generally been on Carbon Capture & Storage technologies; however the capital and operating costs of such systems are prohibitive, and will not be implemented in many of the developing nations.

Water Management
Water management is a major challenge in many countries. While over 90% of our planet is covered in water, the challenge in many countries is making the water that is available fit for human consumption and reducing the health risks associated with poor water quality. The integrated Earth Power solutions makes best use of:

Water desalination, and;

and ensures that all water available is recycled and cleansed for human consumption.
The water produced can also be used for irrigation purposes allowing for large scale food production to be implemented servicing the needs of the local population.
Small Scale Portable Water Purification Solutions
Earth Power have a water purification technology that is suitable for small-scale implementation. Each unit has the capability to provide 18,000 gallons per day, at a cost of less than $0.5cents per person per day. With integrated solar power units, the solution can be used anywhere, and has been designed to be able to be transported into humanitarian disaster zones quickly to assist with recovery.
Large Scale Water Purification & Desalination Solutions

The Solar Potential
The Earth receives 174 Petawatts (=1.74×1017 Watts) of incoming solar radiation at any given time. Only 51% of this is absorbed by land and oceans, with the remainder being radiated back into space. Therefore, the total amount of solar energy reflected is vast. With a proper use of solar capture technology, we can harvest this untapped energy supply to fulfil the world´s energy demand. Alternative sustainable and economical sources of energy must be found.
The Earth Power Group has developed an advanced solar thermal energy system that we predict will set the standard for a “New Age of Renewable Energy” which has been branded as “Sol Invictus”.
Implementing the combined technologies of Sol Invictus can solve many of the environmental and energy problems, and reduce the reliance upon the world’s limited natural resources.
Solar Energy has traditionally been focused upon 1) Photovoltaic & 2) Solar Thermal, however both have limitations:
Photovoltaic cells require large areas to produce electricity and have a very low efficiency level compared with traditional energy sources. In addition, no efficient storage of electrical energy has yet to be developed which will ultimately constrain the impact of photovoltaic sources of energy.
Solar Thermal is a very simple and efficient concept, however the use of heavy capital equipment such as turbines, do not allow it to compete with traditional power sources.
Solution Overview
“Sol Invictus” has significant benefits to the energy sector, allows solar energy to compete on price and efficiency with traditional energy sources, enabling companies and countries to rapidly implement a solar based energy infrastructure that will solve many of the affects on climate change. Thermal Storage
Earth Power has developed a thermal storage capacity that allows for solar power to operate economically 24 hours per day. The storage system has been designed to store sufficient thermal energy to ensure that energy is always available to provide electricity upon demand.
Electrical Generation
When it comes to electrical generation, the project requirements dictate which electrical generation is required. Earth Power has multiple integrated generation solutions that will be used dependent upon the size of the project. The system has been designed to be modular and can be used for small scale 5kw/h projects for individual homes, as well as being used for Multi Megawatt projects on an industrial electrical generation scale.

Waste Management
Waste Management is currently a costly and environmentally damaging process. Many towns and cities have already undertaken some practical steps to reduce their impact on the environment and to reduce the costs of waste management by recycling wherever possible.
The percentage of waste currently sent to landfill is much higher than the global targets. The waste that local municipalities have most difficulty in dealing with is the organic material such as food waste, nappies and animal by-products.
Earth Power Group has developed a method to transform this waste into a useable product and is able to turn this waste into a valuable revenue stream.
Facility Objectives -No more Landfill:
Earth Power Group facilities divert waste from landfill and create “green energy” fuels. The objective of an Earth Power facility is to manage Waste Recycling and convert the waste into Fuels & Chemicals. Earth Power will design, build and operate the waste facility on behalf of the local community, ensuring that the facility operates efficiently, meets all regulatory standards, enabling the community to decrease its current Landfill commitments. The facility will be implemented to:
Dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly method, revolutionising the way that waste is managed within the region;
Create electricity, clean transport fuels and chemicals;
Recognise that value can be derived from all waste;

Improve the region’s environmental image by demonstrating to the Regional, National and European Governments and local residents that they are at the forefront of best environmental management practices;
Demonstrate that there is a different way to manage the waste of a region together with the power of its transport infrastructure.
The combined technologies produce the following benefits:
No more waste sent to environmentally damaging landfills and open dumpsites;
All waste is converted into a valuable resource;
Transport fuels created with almost no sulphur and no tar;
The fuels created are cheaper than traditional fossil fuels;
The fuels burn cleaner reducing CO2 emissions and exceed the strict California Clean Air Standards;
The fuel can be pressurised allowing for additional mileage from the same fuel tank;
The fuels can be blended with existing fuels to enable no changes to existing engine systems;
The Gasification system creates no waste or low value fraction;
All the technologies used in the system are mature with many years of practical field applications, precluding the need for extensive testing and market entry delays required by new technologies.
Using the latest thermal transfer technologies, even the waste heat from our systems are used to produce Green Electricity. The system will also provide desalination opportunities, by using sea water as a coolant, generating desalinated water as a by-product, with no energy input. All CO2 produced can be captured by the process, therefore not released into the atmosphere.
The process is adaptable to a variety of waste materials and is designed to be accommodated within an existing building in the city that it serves. This allows for the waste to be managed in the closest proximity to where it was collected and the reduced volumes of sterilised waste pellets are then sent to a central gasification facility for energy creation. As many waste streams can be managed by the processing facilities, economies of scale can be facilitated by managing the municipal, industrial and agricultural wastes in the same manner.
This allows for a regional approach to waste management, providing cost savings to the local governments through a consolidated waste strategy.
